Training in Quarantine - Day 231
#Another cold day walking. Went past a warehouse that used to have a balloons and party shop.
Now turned into a ScrewFix.
Pandemic has claimed another commercial victim.

Forgot to log yesterday's walk.
Both yesterday and today was raining, today more heavily than yesterday. Shorter distance than normal as a result.
Missed logging yesterday's walk, so logging both today. Generally a warmer evening, still needed my wooly hat, but could do away with not wearing gloves. Nose is still running from the cold, but it's definitely not as cold as it has been recently.
Another slightly earlier walk, still hold, thicker layer of frost on the car today.
Was on call this week and got a callout overnight... which fixed itself within 20 minutes. Twice.
Decided to do my Saturday walk earlier -- while it was light. Still freezing cold. When I did the shop this morning, it was -1degC in the car, and we had a light sprinkling of snow (nothing the wipers and window seals couldn't get rid of, though)
Getting still lighter at 4pm when I do my walk.
Back in lockdown again, so will only be able to leave the house for walks and the weekly shop.
A cold and wet day for walking. Only made 2km before getting rained out. It was supposed to be snowing today, but hasn't yet.
Slightly later walk, and still just as cold. Slightly drizzly rain, but not heavy.
The evenings are getting lighter. I went out for my walk at the normal time and it wasn't dark yet.
Literally "light on the horizon"
New Years Day walk. Very quiet, minimal traffic, but the supermarkets were all open still. Drizzly rain, but not heavy.
Another freezing day for walking and again my nose started running half way through. All the cars iced up this morning, so I'm expecting similar on Saturday when I'm out doing the morning shop.
Normal time for walking, and it was dark. And cold. Freezing cold. It could have snowed and I would not have been surprised.
My nose started running just 1.5 km into the walk, that's how cold it was.
Another slightly early walk day, it was absolutely freezing today, snow in some places, but not here, just a layer of frost.
Bank Holiday today.
Gloves and wooly hat weather.
Went out for my walk a bit early, with a bit of daylight still. Still quiet, since it's a Sunday.
Boxing Day walk and the main shops were open again: Co-Op, Sainsbury's, Tesco. Another cold and wet day, and there's talk of a storm coming in towards the tail end of today. We'll see how that goes.
Went for my walk on Christmas Day and it was dead quiet. Hardly anyone out, and all the shops were closed. Most of them, anyway. The local Ocakbasi was open (but takeaway only), the local Co-op, and Sainsbury's were closed. But the local fruit n veg was still open, and the Shell petrol station was open (to cover for those who are driving, even though you're not supposed to socialise outside your bubble). Surprisingly the Tesco petrol station was not open.
And FitBit announced I had got a new badge.
Christmas Eve and a cold afternoon for a walk. And it wasn't even dark yet.
Another evening walk, popped into Sainsbury's to buy a new tub of chewing gum (I have a habit of chewing gum while I'm walking -- not while I'm running, though, the gum is likely to pop out while I'm panting).
Also realised when I was paying for the gum at Sainsbury's that I had forgotten to start my Fitbit tracking so now I don't know how long I walked. Oh well. :(
A nice evenig walk. The Tesco Petrol Station I normally walk past has now reopened (actually reopened a couple of days ago but I didn't notice)
We got the replacement heater installed today, mostly fine, the heat of the water is now very high, since the plumber had to replace the piping near the heater, and had to mount a plank of wood on the wall to provide additional support for the heater as the bracket where the heater will be mounted would be too high.
This heater requires electricity, compared to the previous one which did not. Meaning without power, we won't have hot water.
The plumber had to add cement around the exit flue of the heater and a few hours later I could see a crack in the cement, probably from it contracting and cracking while drying.
The plumber also had to remove an entire cupboard from the kitchen where the heater is and we'll have to remount that some other time.
Another nice relaxing evening walk. Went passed the prospective house again for a change.
A nice evening walk. My legs seemed to be a bit sore from yesterday's run in the gym. Then again, I didn't warm up, or stretch before the run.
No gym trip today since I know the showers aren't working for gym users.
Forced to use the gym today as my hot water has stopped working as the heater is leaking.
We got a plumber in to investigate and there's a pin hole leak on the heating element. But the heater is a balanced flue which according to him is no longer made and the whole thing would need to be replaced -- not what we needed a few days before Christmas Day.
The plumber turned off the gas and water to the heater, cutting off the hot water (at least it means the heater is not leaking) -- the pinhole leak was still going for a bit though
Booking a slot in the gym due to covid costs me nearly £10, versus £8 before the pandemic, but I can understand due to the additional cleaning and disinfecting work needed by the gym staff.
Decided to run instead of walk, but not sprint, just jog. Will work my way back up to faster running slowly.
Turned out they hadn't opened the changing rooms and showers for gym users yet, so I ended up having a cold shower at home afterwards.
Had an early start today so my walk was a bit slower, but still did it.
Has now gone totally dark during my normal walk time making it harder to see where I'm stepping -- risking stepping in poop or mud.
I got a replacement strap for my FitBit Ionic as the existing one is starting to peel away from the plastic. It arrived yesterday so I replaced it today.
Did my walk on Monday and it was relatively warmer.
Yesterday I had to go into the office because the local council wanted to remove more asbestos from the walls in the communal area of my flat.
